Extra police patrols in Kilmarnock after van window smashed during 'disturbance'

Police have dispatched extra patrols to the streets of Kilmarnock after a disturbance in the early hours of this morning.

Cops raced to Western Road at around 12.40am and discovered a window had been smashed on a black van.

A group of people left the area on foot and headed towards Dean Street in the town.

Police have now appealed for information following the incident.

Detective constable McMaster, Kilmarnock CID said: “We spoke to a number of people at the time, however we are appealing for anyone else who was in the area at the time to come forward.

“As Western Road is a main route in and out of Kilmarnock it’s possible that passers-by may have witnessed what happened and be able to provide some dashcam footage.

"We would like to reassure the local community and will have extra patrols in the area. If anyone has any concerns they should contact Police.”

Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0092 of Friday, May 6.
