The third day of the murder trial of Jose Ibarra brought forth a lineup of expert witnesses who shed light on crucial evidence in the case. University of Georgia police Sgt. Sophie Raboud described footage from the UGA campus safety cameras capturing Laken Riley on her run alongside an unidentified hooded figure. Sgt. Raboud also detailed Riley's final phone communication, a text message to her mother expressing a desire to talk.

Georgie Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Lucas Beyer took the stand next, testifying about the clothing found on Riley's body at the crime scene. Agent Beyer also presented surveillance video from a UGA dining hall showing Jose Ibarra's brother on dates leading up to and including the day of the murder.

Athens Clarke-County Charlie Krischer, called out of order by the defense, discussed a pile of clothing discovered during the investigation, noting its prolonged presence at the location. Lt. Daniel Saunders from UGA police corroborated this information, confirming the weathered state of the clothing items, which had been deemed irrelevant to the case.

GBI lab technician Valencia Johnson provided testimony regarding two black gloves, a navy blue jacket, a tree cutting, and two rocks, all of which showed traces of potential hair and/or fiber. The final witness before the lunch break, GBI microanalyst Alexander Covin, linked the gloves found near Ibarra's apartment to those found inside his residence, suggesting a common origin.

The expert witnesses' testimonies offered a comprehensive overview of the evidence collected, ranging from surveillance footage to clothing items, providing the court with valuable insights into the intricate details of the case.
