Christmas is closing in and with just over ten days until the big day households up and down the country will be busy getting their trees up to decorate.
If you have decided to go for a real Christmas tree this year, you may have noticed that the sap is already starting to seep into the carpet - leaving pesky stains that are difficult to scrub away.
Thankfully, one gardening expert has found a workaround to this pesky problem with a cleaning hack that uses an ingredient you'd usually find in your Christmas sandwich.
Fiona Jenkins, resident gardening expert at MyJobQuote.co.uk has revealed a simple trick that only costs 49p and it will have all of the sap out of your carpets in as little as ten minutes.
The only ingredient you need for this simple hack is mayonnaise - a wonder condiment that lifts stains easily.
Fiona said: "Although you normally use mayonnaise in a sandwich, it's great at removing Christmas tree sap stains!
"If you don't have any in the house you can find it for 49p. Spread the mayonnaise onto the stained area using a cloth or rubber gloves and then leave it to sit for five to ten minutes."
As odd as it might sound, once you have left it to set for this amount of time you can wipe it away and you will find the Christmas tree sap goes with it as well.
That is not the only hack Fiona shared, however, as she said that another nifty household item could also be used to get rid of the sap.
By spraying some washing up liquid onto a dishcloth and then dabbing the sap, you'll get similar results.
Fiona explained: "This tip is super easy. You only need to wet a dishcloth with the washing-up liquid and dab it onto the stained area until it disappears then rinse with warm water."
And the best bit of all is that this should only set you back 37p.
