Exact time rain set to batter Glasgow as heatwave comes to a dreich end

The weather in much of Scotland - especially Glasgow - has been pretty nice with the sun staying out for weeks and not much rain in sight.

However this weekend, it is set to change with forecasters predicting a bit of a mixed bag.

And typically, we are now set to have some rainy days over the weekend - despite the sunshine while many of us have been stuck in the office working.

Although temperatures in Glasgow will remain largely the same with highs reaching around the 22C and 23C mark, we may not be sitting out sunbathing just yet.

According to WXCharts, a band of rain will sweep across the country on Saturday. It will hit much of the central belt, west coast and south of the country between 9am and noon on June 17, reports Scottish Daily Express.

It should have pushed through by 9pm but Sunday brings with it the prospect of thunderstorms, according to the Met Office. Rain is expected to arrive at around noon on the west coast, growing heavier as it moves north and east throughout the day. Monday also promises to be a showery day.

In some better news and in a bid to not dampen your Friday spirits, the rain may be only temporary with the weather set to pick back up again next week.

In its long-range forecast the Met Office states that towards the end of June "there may be a return to slightly more settled conditions".

It adds: "This would mean reduced rainfall amounts for many, although perhaps with the northwest seeing more rainfall at times. Temperatures are likely to remain above average."

Although it is difficult to predict, meteorologists are also suggesting a dry and warm start to July in northern areas of the UK, which could be good news for Scots.
