Former Ulster Rugby star Nick Williams has posted an emotional 'thank-you' after suffering a cardiac arrest.
The hugely popular 38-year-old issued a statement on social media on Thursday to thank the hospital staff who treated him, as well as family and friends who rallied around him after the medical emergency.
The former No. 8 retired from rugby in 2020 and lives in Barry with his family.

Posting on Instagram on Thursday, he said: "Talofa lava everyone. I'm extremely grateful to the big man upstairs for getting myself and my family through a tough few weeks. I can't thank you all enough for the love, thoughts and prayers.
"I haven't been able to get back to you all but please know that I'm truly thankful from the bottom of my heart.
"To my superhero Jase, the Welsh Air Ambulance and the entire staff at the NHS my sincerest thanks and love to you all. Diolch yn fawr iawn.
"Finally to my brothers, my sisters, mum and of course my beautiful wife Gemma and our three girls, your strength and love is my drive to get stronger day by day. From now it's all about rest and recovery. Health is wealth."
Cardiff Rugby said: "It’s safe to say Nick Williams has displayed the same fighting spirit and resilience in his battles off the pitch as we became accustomed to on it. Our thoughts and love remains with Big Nick and the family. A big hand also to all of those that helped."
Born in Auckland and of Samoan descent, Williams spent four years at Ulster after joining the province from Aironi in 2012.
He the went on to spent four years at Cardiff Blues from 2016-2020 and played a pivotal role in their 2018 European Challenge Cup success.
Williams started his career in New Zealand with the Blues and North Harbour and also earned four Junior All Blacks caps before moving to Europe.
