Ex-Rangers recruitment chief 'targets' transfers for Celtic trio amid big rebuild

West Ham United are reportedly interested in three Celtic players.

On Tuesday, Claret & Hugh reported that the English Championship side was keen on a triple signing, with one of the players being of Japanese descent.

Now, Arne Engels, Reo Hatate, and Michel-Ange Balikwisha are all said to be on the club's radar as potential targets, according to Hammers.news.

Per the report, interest in the Celtic trio was sparked by the recent appointment of former Rangers scouting chief Nils Koppen.

His knowledge of the Scottish and Belgian football markets is thought to be playing a significant role in shaping West Ham's recruitment plans. However, no formal approach has been made for any of the players yet.

West Ham's interest comes during a period of transition for the club, following their relegation from the Premier League.

Despite this, the club is in a strong financial position, thanks to the £85 million sale of Mateus Fernandes.

Midfielders Engels and Hatate are seen as obvious targets. However, a move to the Championship might not appeal to either player.

Balikwisha's inclusion on the list of targets is more surprising, given his limited game time last season.
