A former Catholic priest arrested after sending explicit texts to a police officer posing as an underage teen has tried to blame injuries from a car crash for his crimes.

Guy Norman Hartcher, 79, was picked up by NSW Police days before Christmas 2024 after trying to procure sex from three individuals claiming to be underage online.
