Ex-EastEnders star Melissa Suffield has thrown shade at Kim Kardashian after she admitted losing 16lbs in just three weeks in order to fit into Marilyn Monroe’s dress at the Met Gala on Monday.
The actress, 29, who previously played Lucy Beale on the long-running BBC One soap, took to Instagram on Thursday slamming Kim, 41, over the 'unhealthy' weight loss which could lead 'you down a dark path'.
Lucy's impassioned body confidence post comes after Kim came under a baptism of fire after she said on the red carpet she went on an extreme diet to fit into the £4million dress for the star-studded event.
Sharing an image of her curves in a pair of jeans, Melissa wrote: "Just last week I was talking about not being afraid to size up clothes if you are finding your current ones are causing discomfort.
"That you are more than a number.
"That it’s more important to wear clothes that fit, than clothes that are ‘your size’.
"Especially when we know that your size is different from shop to shop.
"We wonder why we have such an issue with labels in clothes.
"Because we’re being continually conditioned to believe that our bodies are made to fit into clothes, rather than that clothes are made to fit our bodies.
"I would hope that it doesn’t need saying, but just in case it does- Losing 16lbs in 3 weeks is not a healthy rate of weight loss.
"Cutting entire food groups is not sustainable, and it can lead you down a dark path.
"If your dress doesn’t fit you, get a different dress. Please remember that you are perfect, just the way you are."
It comes as Kim's trainer, Don-A-Matrix, responded to claims that the diet was unhealthy in an interview with TMZ.
He said: "Not at all. Not from my end from what I saw. We were working out sometimes twice a day."
Kim said aid she cried when she couldn’t fit into the iconic 'naked' gown during a first try on.
Instead of choosing another outfit, she admitted she lost weight so she could wear the £4million dress for just a few minutes on the red carpet.
“I always thought she [Marilyn] was extremely curvy,” she told Vogue.
“I imagined I might be smaller in some places where she was bigger and bigger in places where she was smaller. So when it didn’t fit me I wanted to cry because it [the dress] can’t be altered at all.”
She also admitted wearing a sauna suit twice a day, running on a treadmill and eating the “cleanest veggies and protein”.
Kim said while she didn’t starve herself, she was “so strict” with her diet in the days before the Met Gala - fashion’s biggest night of the year.
