- Former Brookside actor Philip Foster has been sentenced to a further six months in prison after fleeing to Spain to evade justice.
- Foster was previously jailed in his absence for eight and a half years over a £13.6 million sham modelling agency scam that duped more than 6,000 victims.
- The extensive fraud tricked aspiring models into paying huge upfront sums for poor-quality photo portfolios under the false promise of securing work.
- Judge David Dixon labelled Foster a coward who used money from the illegal operation to fund a lavish lifestyle including yachts, luxury watches and cars.
- Sheffield Crown Court heard that while absconding, Foster's wife died of cancer and his son was murdered in Spain around Christmas last year.
