Evo is expanding its events to more countries beginning in 2027, with plans to bring new Evo destinations to Brazil, Morocco, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and China. The organization confirmed the expansion in a new update outlining its long-term plans for the brand and its competitive ecosystem.
The announcement also includes a reassurance for existing attendees and partners that Evo’s legacy events in the United States, Japan, and France are not going anywhere and will remain committed to “policies, brand values, level of investment, format, or expectations.” The main goal of the expansion is to extend the same experience to more regions rather than change anything with the existing ones.
For this year, Evo’s lineup is unchanged, with the events in Tokyo (Evo Japan), Las Vegas (Evo), and Nice (Evo France). Singapore was previously announced as the next destination, and it will join the calendar next year. But the expansion to Brazil, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and China is unexpected, and comes after the announcement of Evo’s acquisition by Qiddiya Investment Company and RTS.

Alongside new destinations, Evo says it will increase support for local communities starting later this year. The plan is aimed at addressing common challenges for grassroots scenes, including equipment, awareness, and player connectivity. Evo says more details will be communicated over the coming months to local partners and the community, with an emphasis on creating long-term stability for the local tournament ecosystem that feeds larger events.
The final and probably the biggest announcement is the new Fighting Game World Championship, powered by Evo. It’s a multi-title championship designed to test players across more than one fighting game, with the goal of determining a single overall winner. The list of games will be announced at a later date, as Evo has to work with the publishers and partners to determine the list. The World Championship is planned to take place in either the United States or Japan.
For now, we don’t know if the new events will carry the same level as the current ones, or if they will be smaller and dedicated to feeding the existing Majors. More info is expected to be revealed closer to 2027.
