Every word Nigel Pearson said on Nottingham Forest, Tomas Kalas injury and Dan Bentley's display

Nigel, what was your overriding assessment of that?

We were second best. Second best in all departments.

There didn’t seem to be a question of desire or work-rate.

That’s your opinion. We were miles off it today. We made bad decisions and couldn’t pass the ball in midfield, consequently we didn’t create anything.

You brought off Cam Pring after the first-half trouble down the left side, how did you feel like you reacted in the second half?

We made too many mistakes in the second-half, too. They didn’t have to play at full tilt to beat us because we had too many players having an off-day.

We didn’t do what we talked about doing and when you’ve got players who make unforced errors and you can see that it effects their own confidence and the confidence of their teammates, we had a bad day, simple.

What is it that the team didn’t do that you asked them to do?

We didn’t pass the ball in the areas that we talked about.

How serious is Tomas Kalas’ injury after coming off at the end?

I don’t know how serious it is. He couldn’t carry on. It’s just a knock. He couldn’t carry on so it’s not just precautionary. He’s got something but I don’t know what.

And Andi Weimann seemed to be playing through the pain a little bit…

He just got kicked, he’s alright, he’s fine.

A word on Dan Bentley’s performance...

Yeah, he was one of our brighter performers. There weren’t too many but he did okay. Robbie Cundy did okay when he went on.

Jay [Dasilva] did okay at left wing-back. We didn’t have many positives really today. I don’t very often say that collectively we were second best but we were for almost the entirety today.

When you look at games that we’ve been beaten, Swansea away we outplayed them for 70 minutes or we were on top and playing well. Today we were just miles off it.

Can you blame any fatigue in that?

No. Why would I blame fatigue?

It’s the first time you haven’t scored in 14 games. The strikers really struggled to get into the game…

It’s got nothing to do with the forwards. Wow. They’re not magicians. You can’t rely on that.

Can you explain why you were so far off it?

No, you can ask the players if you get to talk with any of them.

What did you say at half-time, did you think you could still turn it around?

Of course I did, absolutely. It didn’t happen so back to it this week.

So all round it was just a very disappointing afternoon, you weren’t at the races…

Your words, not mine. I’ve said what I’ve said. We were second best today and that’s it.
