Every SPFL club 'emailed to discuss Storm Bert fixtures yesterday'

Every SPFL club was emailed on Friday and given the opportunity to discuss their fixtures this weekend in light of Storm Bert forecasts, according to a report.

Heavy snow has caused travel chaos and led to a number of postponements in Scotland on Saturday.

Rangers and Dundee United's match was delayed by 45 minutes, St Mirren against Aberdeen was pushed back by an hour and there was a 15-minute delay to proceedings at McDiarmid Park for St Johnstone against Kilmarnock.

In the lower leagues, 11 matches were called off due to adverse weather conditions on Saturday.

Now, though, it has emerged that clubs had the opportunity to discuss contingency plans or voice concerns to league chiefs on Friday.

BBC journalist Tom English said on-air that he had sight of an email sent to clubs ahead of the weekend which outlined the situation.

He said: "I do have a copy of that email and it's pretty clear. So they were given the opportunity.

"I'm just finding this out now. They were given the opportunity to phone and discuss their fixture, yesterday.

"So, that puts another layer of interest onto this."
