Everton still pursuing two transfers as move for Billy Crellin emerges

Everton are hoping to complete a late swoop for young goalkeeper Billy Crellin.

The 21-year-old Fleetwood Town stopper has been a long-term target for the Blues but is now on the verge of joining.

Crellin was targeted by Everton in the summer of 2019 but Fleetwood rejected an offer of around £200,000.

The goalkeeper was part of the England under-17 squad that won the World Cup in 2017 and he had been courted by several top flight clubs at the time.

Everton have retained their interest in Crellin and tonight are close to completing his transfer, with the goalkeeper expected to sign a two-and-a-half-year deal at Goodison.

Jordan Pickford is Everton's No1 and backed up by Asmir Begovic and Andy Lonergan.

But the pair are out of contract in the summer while Joao Virginia could turn his loan spell with Sporting Lisbon into a permanent move at the end of the season.

Harry Tyrer is the next goalkeeper in the pecking order but looks to be joined by Crellin.
