The Everton Shareholders Association has spoken of its disappointment at the club’s decision not to reinstate Annual General Meetings.
The ECHO reported in January of last year that the Blues were planning to amend their articles of association to remove their commitment to host General Meetings every year. And an update from Companies House in February 2022 confirmed that the resolution had been passed.
The initial plans were met with disappointment by the Everton Shareholders Association. However, during a Zoom call with majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri and chairman Bill Kenwright, the association now says that the pair had no objections to having the annual meetings reinstated.

But since then the EFCSA has been informed by Everton's chief executive, Denise Barrett-Baxendale, that the club has no intention, at this time, of reinstating the meetings. This had led to the association releasing a statement not only expressing its disappointment in the decision, but also calling for a meeting to be held before the end of the current financial year.
“Everton Shareholders’ Association is disappointed and concerned that despite the Chair of the Board of Everton Football Club Bill Kenwright and majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri saying in a Zoom meeting of July 2022 that they have no objections to having Annual General Meetings, no meeting has taken place for more than two years,” the statement read.
“The Club via its Chief Executive has indicated that it has no intention at this time of reinstating General Meetings. The Shareholders Association, Shareholders in general and the wider fan-base are disappointed by the board’s decision.
“We respectively request the Chair, and the majority Shareholder, to exercise their authority, remembering that General Meetings are a decision for Shareholders and not employees of Everton Football Club, to commit to a General Meeting before the end of the current Financial Year.”
The last Everton General Meeting took place back in January 2021. However, following last year’s announcement, Farhad Moshiri backed the decision to create a Fan Advisory Board.
The board would go on to be created last season and is made up of 11 members who represent the diversity of the Everton fanbase in either 'reserved' or 'unreserved' positions. Chairman Jazz Bal sat down with the Everton chief back in January to discuss a number of points that had been raised by supporters during a series of meetings held by the FAB.
