Everton player ratings as Jonjoe Kenny bad and several others poor against Wolves

Jordan Pickford 6

Considering he finished on the losing side and Wolves stepped things up after the break, he still had little very little to do which is damning for his Everton team-mates further up the field who were unable to offer much in reply.

Jonjoe Kenny 4

Sent off for two quick-fire bookings, while nobody can question his commitment to the cause, it was reckless to foul both Jonny and Jimenez in such a manner and ruined an afternoon in which he’d actually performed admirably in two positions that are not his natural role.

Mason Holgate 5

Booked for a wild lunge on Raul Jimenez, he looked far more assured than at Tottenham but a lack of players showing for the ball in front of him limited his passing options.

Ben Godfrey 7

Strong, aggressive showing that Everton have missed. Even though they find themselves in trouble, they could do with more of this battling spirit for the relegation dog fight.

Seamus Coleman 6

Got forward with good effect in the first half to carve out some dangerous crosses but found himself more on the back foot after the break as the hosts fell behind and he reverted to his usual right-back role.

Abdoulaye Doucoure 5

Back in the engine room where he looks most comfortable, he nevertheless struggled to take the game to Wolves as he and Van de Beek were overrun in the centre of the park.

Donny van de Beek 6

Tidy in possession but often chasing the game as Wolves pulled the strings in the engine room.

Vitalii Mykolenko 6

Playing in a more advanced role down the left, his clever pass over the top picked out Richarlison for an early chance but there was far too much time and space down his flank for Ruben Neves to pick out Conor Coady for his goal and he made way just before the hour mark as Everton chased the game.

Anthony Gordon 6

Typically determined on either flank, got some decent balls into the box but unfortunately Everton could not capitalise on any of his deliveries.

Demarai Gray 6

Provided the kind of direct running at pace that Everton have lacked in recent weeks but was still shaking off the rust as a couple of heavy touches showed and made way for Townsend.

Richarlison 6

A hard-working display leading the line, he got on the end of his fair share of chances without anything coming off and you’d have hoped he might have been able to slot at least one of them away.

Dele Alli 5 (on 59 for Mykolenko)

Gave Everton a much-needed extra presence in midfield and added creativity but he remains a long way off the form he showed in his pomp.

Andros Townsend 6 (on 74 for Gray)

Replaced the tiring Gray to bring in some extra energy but his introduction was tempered by Everton going down to 10 men and he fluffed his stoppage time chance with a free-kick.
