Everton have been handed a boost in their bid for survival in the Premier League despite not even being in action themselves.
Relegation rivals Crystal Palace and Southampton were both in action on Wednesday night, but were handed defeats as they struggle in the battle to stay in the league.
Southampton remain at the foot of the table after suffering a 2-0 loss at home to Brentford while Patrick Vieira's sides poor form continues as they were beaten 1-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Ivan Toney gave Thomas Frank's the lead just after the half hour mark on the south coast as the Saints remain on 22 points while Solly March's goal for Brighton kept Palace on 27 points - two above Everton.
Everton currently sit in 15th place after beating Brentford 1-0 at Goodison Park on Saturday, but are just two points above the bottom three and face a tricky run of fixtures coming up.
