The funeral of a man who went missing in Paisley will take place on Wednesday, May 10 as his family launch a fundraiser for three charities.
Evan Reid was reported missing on Saturday, March 25.
The dad-of-one had been on the train home to Irvine, North Ayrshire when he appeared agitated and departed the train at Paisley Gilmour Street station at 9.40pm.
He was spotted on CCTV on Inchinnan Road later that night but wasn’t seen again after that.
Extensive searches were carried out by police and volunteers in the weeks that followed. His body was finally recovered from the White Cart Water on April 10.
Evan's heartbroken family yesterday confirmed his funeral will take place at Old Parish Church in Irvine. He will then be laid to rest at Knadgerhill Cemetery in the town.
Those attending the service are being asked to wear a hint of green in honour of the 32-year-old.
The funeral details were revealed as friends and family launched a fundraiser for Glasgow Humane Society, Paisley’s Beechwood Community Centre and Specialist Search Dogs UK.
All three organisations played a vital role in the search for Evan, they said, and so far, more than £2,400 has been generated.
In a statement on the JustGiving fundraising page, the family said: “We would like to thank everyone involved for the help and support given in this time.
“We will be forever grateful to the charities and community for their kindness and generosity in what was the most difficult time in our lives.”
Glasgow Humane Society is a charity of volunteers who everyday searched the river on boats to help find Evan.
Beechwood Community Centre, on Shortroods Road, opened its doors to the search party, providing warm food and drinks and a space for volunteers to meet and coordinate their search.
Specialist Search Dogs UK is a charity who train specialist dogs to help in missing person scenarios.
They can search land and water and even sent a dog all the way from Wales to help police officers in Renfrewshire with the search for Evan.
