Actress Evan Rachel Wood has accused the rock star Marilyn Manson of raping her during the making of a music video.

The star made the accusation in Phoenix Rising, a new documentary about her life and career, which has been shown at the Sundance film festival.

She claimed the musician attacked her on the set of the 2007 video for his single Heart-Shaped Glasses (When the Heart Guides the Hand).

She said she was given the alcoholic spirit Absinthe to drink and was barely conscious during the filming of a “simulated sex scene” where Manson “started penetrating me for real” on camera.

Wood said she had been “trained to never talk back” and claimed the alleged attack left her feeling “disgusting and like I had done something shameful”.

She added: “I was coerced into a commercial sex act under false pretences. That’s when the first crime was committed against me and I was essentially raped on camera.”

Wood met Manson in 2006, when she was 18 and he was 38, and was in a relationship with him from 2007 to 2010.

She previously accused him of grooming and abusing her for years and is one of several women to accuse the star of ill-treatment.

Manson has denied the charges made against him, calling them “horrible distortions of reality… my intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual”.

He is facing up to four lawsuits accusing him of sexual assault, battery and harassment as well as an investigation into allegations of domestic violence and has been dropped by his record label, Loma Vista.

His reputation has caused controversy at this year’s Grammy Awards where his appearance on Kanye West’s album Donda means he shares in the awards nominations.

Phoenix Rising will air on HBO in the US in March.

The Standard has approached Marilyn Manson for further comment.
