An Etihad Airways bound for Phuket from Abu Dhabi encountered an air pocket over Phuket and landed safely at Phuket International Airport at around noon on Wednesday. No passengers were injured.

The management of Phuket airport said Etihad reported the turbulence on flight EY416 with 160 passengers at 11am and airport staff prepared emergency response measures and a dedicated parking bay for the incoming flight.

When the Airbus A321 landed at 11.50am, a response team came on board to provide first aid and found no injured passengers or crew. Etihad also confirmed that no one on board was hurt during the turbulence.

All passengers were subsequently cleared to continue their journey to their accommodations.

The incident had no impact on operations of the airport.
