Eternal helped you save time. Now it wants to help you spend it

For much of the past decade, India's consumer internet economy revolved around the stay-at-home consumer, evolving from e-commerce to food delivery to quick commerce. Now it appears to be evolving further. The biggest consumer internet businesses of the last decade were built around helping Indians stay home. The next big opportunity may lie in helping them go out.

In a recent interview with ET, Rahul Ganjoo, CEO of District, an 'out-of-home' consumer entertainment and ticketing platform operated by Eternal Limited which also owns Zomato and Blinkit, said offline shopping could become District's second-largest business within three years as the company expands beyond dining, movies and events. His statement was about one category within District but it also reveals how Eternal is positioning itself for a larger shift in urban spending patterns.
