Escape to the Country’s Jonnie Irwin fans have backed the tv star after his home renovation plan hit a snag. The presenter who is battling terminal cancer is engaged in a huge project to convert a property for his family to live in.
The 49-year-old who has cancer of the brain after it spread to his lungs is renovating a house for his wife Jessica and three boys close to her family in the north east, should the worst happen. But he revealed in his latest instagram post that the project had a problem. He said it meant that his builders had to come on over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Jonnie wrote: “After the completion of the Facia we were all disappointed with the end result. The bubbles of welding underneath were visible. I wasn’t happy and nor was @steblyth1988 but then we were trying out a different approach with a new material. We then went back and applied aluminium. I’m really happy with the results and impressed/grateful for to @steblyth1988 and his side kick Ste for coming back on their days off to get it just right. #thedevilsinthedetails #renovation”
Jilli_jilly_’s agreed with the decision to make sure it was perfect: “I’ve just done a biggish renovation and I’ve seen products online which once ordered and in place absolutely do not work, or live up to what was promised on line. I’m so glad you’ve got your facia sorted
Morag Logan said: “It makes such a difference when you have good tradesmen . Well done to them x” Rachel Cooper said: “It’s so annoying when the original plan doesn’t work, but when plan two works even better, you will look and admire the end results.
"We had beautiful dormer Windows made with lead rather than wood thinking we would stay at our house forever, as lead has the long lasting and beautiful finish too.” Diane Edmonds added: “Well done all, that must have been very frustrating but good to get it right.”
Jonnie from Leicestershire, who also presented A Place in the Sun, held his 50th birthday celebrations earlier this year, has defied the predictions of doctors after his lung cancer spread to his brain. He has been battling the disease with medical treatment like hyperbaric oxygen therapy and has also reorganised his diet to ‘starve’ the cancer.
