Channel 4 viewers were "heartbroken" minutes into the new series of Escape to the Chateau.

The Strawbridge family were finally back on our screens after the pandemic forced the chateau to close for two years. But before they reopened their doors, Angel and Dick had a few jobs to tackle.

Chateau de la Motte Husson needed a new coat for the 150-year-old exterior walls and Angel wanted a dedicated wedding workshop. While Angel and Dick set about their tasks, viewers at home were shocked when the narrator revealed it would be The Strawbridge's "final chapter".
