Escape to the Chateau's Dick and Angel issue exciting update as fans beg for TV return

Escape to the Chateau stars Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree have been given a wonderful surprise after their popular Channel 4 show finished at the end of last year.

The DIY programme aired its final episode in December as the programme came to an end after six years and nine series, with many hoping for the show's return.

To the delight of fans, the show has won an award at the Real Screen Awards 2023, with the show announcing the news on Instagram.

The post read: "A great way to start the week! We are thrilled to say that Escape to the Chateau has been awarded Best Lifestyle - House & Home at the @realscreen Awards!"

Real Screen is a media outlet for entertainment news.

The reality TV show saw the married couple sell their two-bedroom Essex apartment and buy a rundown 19th-century French chateau in the market town of Martigne-sur-Mayenne.

The chateau had no electricity, plumbing or heating when they embarked on their new adventure in the winter of 2016 but viewers have seen the majestic building restored to its former glory over time by the hardworking couple.

Fans of the show were quick to congratulate the couple on their win, with others asking when they will return to TV.

One person said: "As it should! Best show ever! Congratulations you both deserve it! Please come back to tv."

A second person told the couple: "I'm miss this programme with you all, inviting us into you home and seeing all the renovation, it's was such a joy to watch and see how beautiful you have made it look."

Dick, 63, and Angel, 44, are parents to Arthur and Dorothy, nine and ten, and the couple felt it was time to stop the show, for their family.

Speaking on the Radio Times’ View from my Sofa podcast, Dick explained: "No one has asked us to stop yet – that’s good.

"The children are turning nine and 10. They’ve had an innocence and joy in what we’ve done.

"We’ve got lots of things we still intend to do, but we want to protect the family part of it."

Following the emotional end of the series, Angel has revealed some of the biggest issues that came with their enormous property.

The telly star has admitted that the chateau gets very dirty very quickly and needs a “good clean” before every event or wedding.

"Every Friday, we all have a good clean and before every wedding or event all the windows get cleaned, but that can take a couple of days, " Angel told IdealHome.

When asked about the chores, the star hates doing in the French chateau, Angela said: "Anything in the dark. Like putting the chickens and geese to bed in the winter!"

Announcing the end of the series in September, the couple said the experience had an "adventure of a lifetime" they never could have imagined, and they were looking forward to the future.
