KOCHI: Nearly 52 years after the first sewage treatment plant (STP) was set up for public purpose in Ernakulam, another plant with the same purpose is set to start functioning in the district with the trial starting next week.
The trial run of the new 5mld capacity treatment plant at Elamkulam will start by pumping water to the treatment tanks and starting bacteria culturing. The plant, which is coming up on the same compound where the old plant is operating, is expected to be commissioned by the end of this month.
