Erling Haaland's stance on "dream" Real Madrid transfer emerges amid Man City contract talk

Erling Haaland is 'entirely happy' at Manchester City amid reports linking him with a blockbuster transfer to Real Madrid.

Haaland only joined the Premier League champions from Borussia Dortmund in the summer but is still on Real Madrid's radar after breaking numerous top-flight records at the Etihad Stadium.

The 22-year-old has plundered a remarkable 42 goals already this season for Pep Guardiola's side, who have the striker locked down until the summer of 2027. However, City are already making plans to stave off the growing interest in Haaland from Europe's elite by offering their prolific new talisman a bumper pay-rise.

Haaland already pockets £375,000 a week, but according to The Sun, Manchester City are ready to bump his earnings to £500,000-a-week - if he agrees to extend his contract by a further 12 months.

The report also claims that sources close to the striker have indicated that the Norwegian international is completely content with life at the Etihad and that his camp have indicated that they would welcome talks with the City hierarchy to discuss fresh terms.

Haaland's stance comes in spite of the recent transfer speculation that has been fuelled by comments from his agent, Rafaela Pimenta.

She claimed at the FT Business of Football summit in London earlier this month that joining Real Madrid is still the "dreamland" for all players. She said: "There is the Premier League, and there is Real Madrid. Real Madrid has something of its own that makes it the dreamland for the players. Madrid keeps this magic going. They don't have the league competition every week, but they do have the Champions League.”

Pimenta also hinted that plans were already being made for Haaland's next move after admitting that she was always mapping out her clients' future moves. She added: "In my agency we try to make a plan. We have to make a plan. We need to have a goal. Maybe we won’t achieve it but if don’t know where we’re going for sure we don’t get there. When we have a player, we make plans."

In the wake of Pimenta's comments, it's been claimed that Real Madrid have a plan dubbed 'Operation Haaland' in place to try and prise the prolific striker away from Manchester City in the near future.

Although it was claimed that Haaland originally insisted on having a release clause in his contract, it's now understood that the clause is no longer active after Guardiola extended his own contract earlier this year.

Messages over his future has been mixed, though, the striker's father, Alfe-Inge, previously claiming that his son will only stay at the Etihad for "three or four years at the most".
