Erling Haaland injury: Man City striker returns to training in title race boost

Erling Haaland has returned to Manchester City training in a huge boost for the champions' title hopes in their fight with Arsenal.

Haaland, who has so far scored a remarkable 42 goals in his first season in England, was forced to watch from the stands last weekend as his team-mates thumped Liverpool, after failing to shake off a hamstring injury.

Speaking after the game, Pep Guardiola was upbeat for the striker's fitness, telling reporters: "Erling is getting better. On Friday he felt a little bit better compared to the previous two days.

"It's five days to Southampton, so hopefully can still help us like he has all season."

The City squad were given three days off after their 4-1 win over Liverpool and returned to traning on Wednesday, with Haaland joining the squad.

Haaland is now expected to be fit to face bottom-of-the-table Haaland on Saturday as City look to again close the gap on title leaders Arsenal.
