Erin Cuthbert signs new Chelsea contract until 2025 as ambitious targets set

Erin Cuthbert has agreed a new long-term deal with Chelsea, keeping her at the club until 2025.

The Scotland international made the move to London in 2016 and has had a successful six years at the club so far. She's been a key part of the side that has won numerous Women's Super League titles over the year, as well as FA Cups, the Continental Cup and Community Shield.

The 24-year-old has started all but one of Chelsea 's games so far this season and scored in their most recent win over Manchester United before the international break. The Blues currently sit second in the table, level on points with Arsenal, but have played a game more than their London rivals.

Speaking on the new deal, Cuthbert told chelseafc.com : "I'm delighted, it’s been a long time coming, but I’m happy to finally get it over the line. This is my club and this is where I want to be.

"The hard work is just beginning, it’s only a stepping stone in where I want to be. I’ve still got a lot to learn, I’ve still got a lot to give to this club. I know I’ve got more in my tank and that I can reach even bigger heights."

General manager Paul Green, who has been in charge since Emma Hayes underwent an emergency hysterectomy last month, added: "We are delighted to have extended Erin’s contract. Erin in her time with us has been key to our success and is now coming into her prime. We look forward to seeing her continue to improve and develop in central midfield in the upcoming years."

The Blues return to WSL action this weekend with a London derby against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge. Attention then turns to the UEFA Women's Champions League with the visit of Real Madrid next week.
