England duo Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho have been backed to excel under new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, but have been warned that their success ultimately lies with their own end product.
Both players had a tough time amid the club’s struggles last season. Sancho was underwhelming following his big-money move from Borussia Dortmund while Rashford cut a demoralised figure.
The pair only scored 10 goals between them following their penalty shoot-out heartache with England in the Euro 2020 final the previous summer. However, both now look in top shape after an enjoyable pre-season.

The pair combined well with Anthony Martial in pre-season, with Sancho scoring three times and ending United’s pre-season tour as their standout player. Rashford netted twice and was seen chasing down balls and causing trouble for defenders once again.
Former Liverpool and Germany midfielder Didi Hamann said Ten Hag can get the best out of the twosome but that both players need to grasp the opportunity to kickstart their United careers. Speaking to safebettingsites.com, he said: “[ Erik Ten Hag ] is a manager who can develop players.
“He did it at [Bayern] Munich when he was in charge of the second team and did the same in Amsterdam with Ajax. If they [Sancho and Rashford] can’t do it under Ten Hag, I think it gets tougher and tougher.
“You’ve only got so many years to fulfil your potential, and when Rashford burst onto the scene everyone was taken aback by what they saw. Young players need confidence, but they’re not getting any younger.
“But they’ve got a manager now who does know how to get the best out of them and then it’s up to them."
