Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag let winger Antony have both barrels after the Brazilian hit the deck against Tottenham.
The Red Devils showed little sign of fatigue following their draining 120 minutes against Brighton on Sunday, taking a 2-0 half-time lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford put the visitors in control before Spurs battled back in the second-half to pull it back to 2-2.
One United player who didn't impress in the first 45 minutes was Antony. The 23-year-old arrived for £82 million from Ajax in August, and has shown flashes of brilliance having struck four times in the Premier League.
But he has also been criticised for his inconsistency, not to mention his theatrics. And early on in the clash with Spurs, the winger went to ground looking for a free-kick.
He didn't get it, but to the evident frustration of his manager, remained on on the floor. Ten Hag berated his player, telling him to get up, and then after the ball went out of play further lambasted him.
The forward opted not to argue back with his boss, but struggled to get into the contest thereafter. Still, it was the visitors who headed down the tunnel in full control. Having said that, Spurs battled back and made it 2-2 in the second half thanks to goals from Pedro Porro and Son Heung-min, with Anthony hooked off before the final whistle.
The incident comes just a week after Antony turned in an ineffective display against Sevilla last Thursday. United were dumped out of the Europa League as they went down 3-0 in Spain, and 5-2 on aggregate.
But he has also played a pivotal part in United's success this season, starting in their League Cup final win over Newcastle at Wembley. He also played in their FA Cup semi final shootout triumph over The Seagulls, but came off before it reached penalties.
Before moving to North England with ten Hag, Anthony also helped Ajax to back to back Eredivisie titles. And he's also been capped 16 times by Brazil, featuring in their 2022 World Cup campaign.
