Erik ten Hag issues update on Aaron Wan-Bissaka at Manchester United

Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Aaron Wan-Bissaka is nearing a return to fitness for Manchester United following his recent injury setback.

The 24-year-old has only made one appearance all season and has missed the last 10 matchday squads with an unspecified injury. The right-back's only appearance of the campaign came from the bench in the dying minutes of United's 2-1 win over Liverpool back in August.

The former Crystal Palace right-back was last named on the bench for United's Europa League opener against Real Sociedad but then showed up in the directors’ box just before kick-off.

However, Wan-Bissaka, who United spent £50 million on just three years ago, is now edging closer to a comeback as he looks to rejuvenate his stagnant career.

“Aaron Wan-Bissaka is back on the pitch, so that's good news, because we need everyone,” Ten Hag told club media ahead of facing Chelsea in the Premier League.

“We have so many games to cover, so we need a big squad. You need that you can pick players, that you have choice. So I'm happy with that process.”

It's not all good news on the injury front though, with United still set to be without Anthony Martial when they travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

Ten Hag added: “Martial? He was on the [training] pitch, but he's not available for tomorrow. We have to see how it develops in the coming days.”
