Erik Ten Haag's future at Ajax could be influenced by the departure of sporting director Marc Overmars, according to a report.
Overmars resigned in shame this week after admitting to sending a "series of inappropriate messages to several female colleagues".
The former Arsenal, Barcelona and Netherlands winger left his role with immediate effect Monday.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano believes the shock development could have a "big impact" on Ten Hag's next steps as he's named among two favourites for the Manchester United job.
PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino is also in the running for the post, currently occupied by Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis.
Romano, speaking on the Vibe with Five podcast, said: “He’s (Pochettino) a serious option for United. There is nothing agreed or done because Manchester United will decide in March/April not in February.
“It will also depend on what happens with PSG in the Champions League.
“But Pochettino and Erik ten Hag are the two big names they [Manchester United] have on the list.
“Also what happened with Overmars could maybe change the future of ten Hag. He [ten Hag] was 100 per cent involved in the project at Ajax, but with Overmars now leaving the club, it could have a big impact on ten Hag’s future.
“Ten Hag and Pochettino are the two big favourites to be the new Manchester United manager in the summer.”
