Erik ten Hag in line for first new job since Manchester United sacking

Erik ten Hag is being lined up for his first job since being sacked by Manchester United.

The Dutchman was sacked by Old Trafford chiefs in late October, ending a tenure which ran for a little over two seasons.

Ten Hag won two trophies at the helm, the Carabao Cup and then the FA Cup, but his spell in charge will be largely remembered by miserable results aplenty and setting records for form for all the wrong reasons.

But RB Leipzig are reportedly undeterred and are weighing up a move for free agent Ten Hag amid growing pressure on current head coach Marco Rose.

Leipzig have lost five of their last six games, culminating with a 5-1 home defeat to Wolfsburg which has seen them drop to fourth in the Bundesliga and nine points adrift of league leaders Bayern Munich.

The decision to sack Rose and hire his replacement could, in part, be down to former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who will start his new job as head of football operations at Leipzig on January 1.
