Erik ten Hag cancelled a planned day off for his Manchester United players following their humiliating 4-0 defeat to Brentford. The United first-team squad were due to be given Sunday off in order to recuperate ahead of a return to training next week, but Ten Hag was so outraged with the performance that he demanded they come in for an extra training session.
United arrived back in Manchester on Saturday night following their defeat and were called back into Carrington on Sunday morning to be put through their paces again.
The players had hoped for some downtime following the match at Brentford, given that they do not play again next week, with their game against Liverpool taking place a week on Monday at Old Trafford.
