English jockey learns verdict after being accused of racism by Irish rival at Cheltenham

  • English jockey Nico de Boinville has been cleared of making racist comments towards Irish amateur jockey Declan Queally following an investigation into an incident at the Cheltenham Festival.
  • The complaint arose from a heated exchange between De Boinville and Queally during the Turners Novices’ Hurdle, where they were jostling for position.
  • Queally filed a formal complaint of racist abuse, which De Boinville consistently denied.
  • Stewards meticulously reviewed video footage, audio recordings and interviewed multiple witnesses, concluding there was no evidence to corroborate the allegation of racist language.
  • While the racist allegation was not upheld, De Boinville was reminded of his professional obligations and the expectation to maintain professional conduct, particularly in high-pressure racing environments.
