LONDON: Star England batter Jonny Bairstow, who recently withdrew from the Indian Premier League due to injury, is hoping to obtain full fitness before his national side's first Test match of the summer against Ireland in June. Yorkshire head coach Ottis Gibson disclosed the news as Bairstow stepped up his rehabilitation process.
Bairstow was in supreme form last year before a freak accident on the golf course in September left him with three separate fractures in his left fibula, as well as a dislocated ankle and ligament injuries. The 33-year-old had an operation to insert a metal plate.
