England played their first match of the World Cup facing off against Iran during a thrilling match which saw the opponents get thrashed 6-2. Fans were out in droves during the game which kicked off at the slightly unusual time of 1pm.
Due to the Qatar time zone and weather, the matches are being held at different times of the day, much to some people's disappointment as they have to work. Bars and pubs are expected to be packed out, especially during England's game against the USA on Friday.
There are many venues hosting watch parties, setting up the big televisions and pouring the pints as fans watch to see if England bring it home in the 2022 competition. One venue, a nightclub in the city centre, has transformed itself during the day to create a fan zone.

Pryzm nightclub, near the Merrion Centre has swapped out the pumping tunes and sticky floors for tables, chairs and lots of noisemakers and flags. The nightclub has free ticketed events for the upcoming matches where fans can sit and watch the games on huge projector screens whilst also grabbing a drink at the bar.
LeedsLive visited the club earlier today to get some reaction to England's win and speak to fans who were out revelling during the day.
The match began with a controversial missed penalty and then the Iranian goalkeeper suffered a potential concussion but continued play. Then England got into the swing of things and before the first half was over, they has scored three goals to the opponent's none.
Not many fans showed up to the first match, we counted a handful of people at the venue, but in fairness it was 1pm and a Monday. However, when the goals started flying in, the smoke machines went off and the fans went wild.
We spoke to a few people at the event, one group of lads, who were very excited, said: "Why is it so dead in here? It's clearly coming home, is everywhere like this?"
Another fan, who was there on his lunch break said: "It's annoying that they are at these times but except for this match, I have all of England's games booked off both the day of the match and the day after, I might need it."
Tickets are free for the events, they can be reserved online and the space can seat hundreds. Pryzm estimates around 200 people are expected at the club on Friday during England's next match.
