Households can save on their fuel bills by working out how much each appliance that they use costs them.
The comparison experts at Go Compare Energy have made it easy for consumers to find out how much it costs to run common household appliances, and to compare them against each other. This could help people steer clear of costly appliances, or could help them invest in the most efficient option if they are shopping around for a new appliance.
Small adjustments on how long appliances are used could also help households boost their savings this winter. Currently energy prices are capped, with an average household paying £2,500 a year, but this is set to rise to £3,000in April of 2023
The online tool that they have launched can help you work out the cost of a wide range of appliances, from an electric oven to a broadband router. You can compare each appliance over different lengths of time which could help you pick the right option for your home depending on your lifestyle.
Gareth Kloet, energy expert at Go Compare, said: "If you’re thinking of making any significant changes to your house, such as installing solar panels, you should always inform your insurance provider beforehand.
"In the meantime, there are several simpler ways to improve your home’s energy efficiency, including using draught excluders and energy-saving light bulbs. It’s also important to stay on top of what you’re spending at home – use our energy calculator to compare the cost of household appliances.
"With colder weather incoming, now is the time to review how you could save money by making small adjustments to your day-to-day habits."
Research from the comparison group could also help those who are looking to sell their homes as a recent poll of UK adults can reveal that 72 percent of Brits are more likely to purchase a property with a good energy efficiency rating, and 51 percent would be put off buying a house with a poor one.
