Women living with endometriosis, fibroids, menopause symptoms, infertility, and several other conditions are named as research priorities in an executive order President Donald Trump signed on Oct. 19. The order directs the Department of Health and Human Services, through the National Institutes of Health, to create a Women's Health Division within 90 days, according to the White House.
The division does not exist yet, and the order sets no funding amount. It must be carried out subject to the availability of appropriations, meaning Congress controls the money. Any change in diagnosis or treatment would depend on research that has not yet been funded or started.
