Emmerdale writers sparked criticism from fuming viewers as they insisted Harriet Finch ‘deserved better’ following her shock death.
During Thursday’s episode of the ITV soap fans said their final goodbye to Harriet but it wasn’t the farewell they were expecting.
The village vicar and a police officer unfortunately lost her life after a horrific storm ripped through the village during the 50th anniversary special.

Lightning struck a crashed quad bike which exploded and sent her flying to her death. Liv Flaherty was the storm's other victim as she died after being crushed by a caravan.
Their deaths were just days after Faith Dingle who took her own life after her lengthy battle with breast cancer. Both Liv and Faith were given a huge send off as the whole cast gathered together for the double farewell.
During tonight's episode viewers were hoping to see the same for former vicar Harriet however were left fuming when show bosses instead decided to kept much of the funeral offscreen.
Viewers never got to see an emotional ceremony or even a body buried - Instead they watched locals say goodbye to her at a wake held at the Woolpack but not everyone was there.
Emmerdale fans wasted no time and went straight to Twitter to share their frustration. @Tammy_xH Tweeted: “Sorry but Harriet didn't deserve that non show funeral, she was the villages Vicar and she got that send off? #emmerdale.”
@RyanGSoapKing11 wrote: “Harriet's funeral deserved to be half an episode at least - shame especially after Faith and Liv's brilliant funeral last week. #Emmerdale.”
@JamieTVandNews said: “Harriet deserves better than a non-funeral #Emmerdale.” @News4Emmerdale fumed: “Wtf was Harriet’s funeral. The producers have done Katherine and Harriet dirty. No words #emmerdale.”
@buckland_emma commented: “Harriet not getting a proper on screen funeral. She was a main character for 9 years! I give up! #Emmerdale.”
While @Michaela_jayne1 added: “Harriet been the vicar for years before Charlies took over yet she doesn’t even get an onscreen funeral, not a fan of Harriet but she deserved a decent funeral #Emmerdale.”
