Emmerdale star teases more than one death in dramatic 50th anniversary episodes

Emmerdale's Charles Anderson actor Kevin Mathurin has hinted that death will rock the Dales later this year.

As the ITV soap celebrates its 50th anniversary, the show will go all out with huge storylines and big scenes.

It had been teased earlier this year that there could be stunts, births, and huge scenes for the residents in the village.

Now, speaking exclusively to The Mirror at The British Soap Awards 2022, actor Kevin has dropped the biggest hint yet that there will be a death on the show.

Not only that but he teased there could be more than one fatality, as he confirmed Charles would be heavily involved in the fallout.

While he remained coy over the exact details and what might occur, he did tell us there could be more than one funeral on the horizon.

He said: "A ll I can say is Charles is going to have a lot of work to do, and he'll be going around checking on his parishioners, seeing if people are okay and there might be the odd funeral. I'll leave it at that, I think I've said too much already."

Kevin also addressed speculation newcomer Marcus Dean (ITV)

Teasing there was more drama to come following the imprisonment of serial killer Meena Jutla, Kevin hinted there were big scenes to come.

He told us: "Y ou'll have to check out the 50th anniversary special, that's all I'm gonna say. I won't say any more."

Kevin also discussed new scenes ahead that would deal with Charles' past, with fans learning more about his backstory.

He teased: " I think it's good people will get to know Charles and that he has had his flaws, and it brings the character off the page, that he has had a past. I'm not saying it's a bad past but he's human you know?"

Viewers will have to tune in to find out more, while Kevin also addressed speculation newcomer Marcus Dean, who is dating Charles' son Ethan, could be harbouring a secret.

He spilled: " Charles is always protective of anything to do with Ethan, but he's warmed to Marcus. Marcus seems like a really nice guy. As long as Ethan is happy, Charles is happy, but obviously he's got one eye on things."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
