Emmerdale star Daisy Campbell loved playing pregnant teen but doesn't want to be mum yet

Glamorous teenage star Daisy Campbell has Emmerdale fans on the edge of their seats with an explosive new storyline.

Daisy plays 15-year-old schoolgirl Amelia Spencer who has just discovered she is pregnant and facing the heartbreaking decision of whether or not she should keep the baby.

Daisy, 18, speaking in her first newspaper interview, realises the importance of such a bombshell plot.

She said: “Teen mums do an amazing job and I really want to do this justice for them all. This is such a gritty and important storyline.”

But the star, who is happily single, said: “Being a teen mum is not something I would want right now.

“Amelia is only 15 and she finds it so crazy at first that she is pregnant. She is still a child; she hasn’t left school yet and it’s a total nightmare for her.”

Amelia passed out while babysitting at Home Farm and ends up dropping baby Thomas. She thinks she has collapsed because she had been taking a weight gain syrup bought on the internet – until a doctor says she is expecting.

Daisy said: “She decides to book an appointment at an abortion clinic as, in her mind, she definitely wants to go through with one.

“She thinks she is too young to have a baby and she won’t be able to provide. I don’t want to spoil it today as to whether she does have an abortion or not, but she is in for some rocky few months.”

There is speculation about is the father’s identity with some fans believing it is Noah Dingle, who Amelia has secretly visited in prison. Others think Samson Dingle might be the dad. Happily, Daisy’s love life is far less volatile.

She said: “I am single. I want to concentrate on my job and I like spending time with my friends. I am 19 in a couple of weeks and my friends come first right now before anyone.”

Since joining the soap 11 years ago, Daisy has amassed more than 55,000 followers on her Instagram page and she regularly uploads glamorous photos to her platform. And she does get people asking her out.

She admitted: “I won’t block them but I do mute them. I am not interested. I am happy with my life.

“I’ve got lots of great friends on the soap and I get on really well with Rosie [Bentham], who plays Gabby. We have just recently returned from such a fun girls’ holiday in Ibiza.

“We had such a brilliant time even though we did get our bags stolen on a beach whilst we were there with our phones in them.

“That was a nightmare, but it hasn’t stopped us wanting to go away together on holiday next year.”

Daisy, who lives at home with her parents, Rory and Alison, and two siblings in Yorkshire, has no regrets spending half her life growing up on the soap.

“It was hard at times when I had to miss out on great school trips, but I feel lucky to be part of a big show.

“And because I do mix with a lot of adults, I do feel I have matured quickly. I love working.” She said she had a blast in May attending her first ever Soap Awards. “I didn’t realise how much work goes into it all to get ready,” Daisy said.

“But I loved it and the great thing is we won best soap.”

So, is the actress ready to fly the nest or would she love to be Emmerdale ’s answer to Corrie’s Ken Barlow?

Smiling, Daisy admitted she would love to stay for as long as the soap’s bosses want her.

But she also revealed her big dream is to also hit the rink under the watchful eyes of Torvill and Dean.

“I would love to take part on Dancing on Ice while still working on Emmerdale. I want to stay on the soap for as long as I can.

“I am not very good on ice, but I would love to learn how to skate.”

As for whether she would ever consider becoming a mum when she is older, Daisy said: “Hopefully one day but not right now

“I feel like everything is coming together and I hope with this storyline, I can give all the teen mums a voice.”
