Emmerdale spoilers have confirmed what's wrong with Cathy Hope after bosses teased a "challenging" storyline ahead.
On the ITV soap next week, it will finally be revealed why Cathy has been struggling as of late, after the soap's producer Jane Hudson teased there was a huge "emotional" and "challenging" storyline ahead for the teenager. Fans have been desperately trying to work out what might be wrong with Cathy or what challenges she faces ahead.
Some have suggested she could not really be Bob's daughter, and that Heath isn't her twin, or there was some sort of mix up at the hospital when she was born. Others thought she could be involved in an accident or have some sort of illness.
Spoilers for next week's episodes of Emmerdale have revealed that Cathy finally comes clean about what's wrong. In the café, Bernice is trying to support Cathy with her revision but after a tense exchange of words about the menopause, Bernice leaves the café and Brenda is fuming over the comments Cathy has made to Bernice.
Bob, furious about Cathy's attitude, confronts her but when Heath gets involved, she loses it and smashes his guitar on the floor. Confused and embarrassed by what happens, she rushes off.
Bob and Brenda are left concerned once again the next day when Cathy runs out her mock exam, with the school informing them of her behaviour. Worried and sensing something's wrong, Bernice follows Cathy and catches her washing her skirt in the sink.
Cathy then reveals to Bernice that she has been struggling with heavy periods and explains it was the reason why she missed her exam. Bernice is desperate to help and tells Cathy that she'll chat with Manpreet about how they might be able to help.
Keen to help, Manpreet chats with Cathy about her periods and is relieved when she prescribes the teenager the pill. Knowing she can resit her mock exam, she takes her first pill and feels things are finally evening out for her.
The storyline has been described as one "a lot of parents will connect with".
Soap producer Jane Hudson told The Mirror and other press: "A lot of the youngsters have big stories coming up. You’ll see a really big story for Cathy, Bob's daughter, which is really emotional. It's her first big story and a challenging one, and I think one a lot of parents will connect with and one I haven't seen a soap do before so Cathy has a big story coming up."
Jane then joked that the soap first might end up having been done before by a different soap years ago knowing her luck, after being sure she had never seen it on a soap before now, but she did promise it would be emotional.
