Emmerdale scene five years ago 'revealed' Faith Dingle's link to Frank Tate

Emmerdale viewers were left reeling on Thursday night, as Caleb Miligan was confirmed to be the secret son of former character Frank Tate.

Introduced as the long-lost child of Faith Dingle, fans couldn't believe Faith and Frank had a child together.

While Frank died in 1997 and Faith didn't debut until 2004, it's believed the pair met or knew each other in the 70s or around that time.

According to Caleb, he was given away as a baby after Faith gave birth in prison - and knowing the baby wasn't her partner Shadrach's, she gave him up.

At some point before Caleb's arrival in 2022, he found out that his dad was Frank with it all revealed to viewers this week.

Now, viewers have recalled a scene that aired five years ago which may have revealed that Frank and Faith knew each.

Not only that, but it could have been a major hint of what was to come and that something went on between them.

In 2018, fans may remember Frank's wife Kim Tate was pushed off a balcony at Home Farm after her big return after 20 years away.

Someone shoved her off the platform and nearly killed her, and that someone was later confirmed to be Faith.

Emmerdale fans remembered a storyline in 2018 between Faith Dingle and Kim Tate (ITV)

It didn't really make that much sense at the time, other than the fact the Dingles and the Tates were enemies.

Kim was being awful to the family as usual and especially to Charity Dingle, but that wasn't really enough to warrant Faith almost killing her.

Now, fans think that Faith pushed Kim as revenge for her leaving Frank to die - while it was never really made clear to other characters that Kim had let Frank die.

Some suggested it might explain Faith's decision to hurt Kim, and could seal the fact Faith was angry for what she did to Frank.

Another scene later on saw her confront Kim for her behaviour saying: "That's what all you Tates do isn't it."

She was referring to them being spoiled and doing what they had to to get their own way, so could this have been a reference to her and Frank giving up their baby Caleb?

There's still more to be revealed about what really happened between them and whether Frank knew about the baby.

At the moment no one apart from Caleb and Nicky knows about their link to the Tates, with Faith dying last year.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
