Emmerdale's Michelle Hardwick snaps at troll who says her 'Hollywood career failed'

Michelle Hardwick brushed aside a troll as she tweeted about the drama going down on beloved soap Emmerdale.

The brave actress commented on the events of another dramatic week on the show, but was met with criticism from one Twitter user.

The soap star, 45, tweeted to her 114,000 followers: "Ok, so when I said the @emmerdale village was windy last week, that was NOTHING compared to today".

The Twitter troll replied: "Seems to be more wind since you came back, what's wrong did it not work out in Hollywood?".

The bold star recently took time away from the soap on maternity leave as she welcomed her baby boy, Teddy, with producer wife Kate Brooks.

But Michelle returned to her starring role on the ITV soap last December.

In typically good humour, the star brushed off the comment and replied: "Hi David, if you actually followed me on Twitter, you’d probably know I left to have a baby.

"Didn’t have time to go to Hollywood", followed by cry-laughing-face emojis.

A fan of the courageous star lept to defend her, writing: "David. Excellent gaffe mate".

"She was on maternity leave not in Hollywood," another Emmerdale viewer replied.

A third summed up the events, simply commenting: "Cringe!!!!"

Michelle has a track record of dealing with hateful comments about her personal life on social media.

The popular actress has also previously battled homophobia online, which she managed gracefully.

Michelle dealt with the issue head-on, with the star shaming the troll and highlighting their comments to fans.

She re-quoted the tweet and said: "Come on, show us who you really are… I dare you!".

Michelle shares new baby Teddy, who was born on 9 October 2021 with wife and Emmerdale producer Kate Brooks.

The couple got married after eloping to America.

Michelle recently posted a snap from the ceremony alongside a picture of her baby bump, captioning the picture: "What a difference a year makes!

"Happy 1st Wedding Anniversary to my soulmate, best friend and beautiful wife. Here’s to the next chapter Brooksy. We love you so much #fredlooksthrilled #countingdowntheweeks."

The star explained that the set of Emmerdale is now dominated by chat about babies.

The soap star, who plays Vanessa Woodfield, declared: “All we do on set is talk about babies! I’m sure everyone is really sick of us.”

The actress also opened up about her feelings about returning to the ITV set for the first time in a year and a half following the birth of her son, Teddy.

“When I first walked back on to set, it was as though I’d only had two weeks off! Everything was exactly the same, and I was dead excited to be back. Though I was very nervous, I must admit”, Michelle admitted.
