Caleb Milligan's secret son Nicky is increasingly having doubts about their plan to take down Kim Tate but his father refuses to listen and his obsession with revenge may leave him with nothing.
In Tuesday's instalment of Emmerdale, Nicky (Lewis Cope) begged his father to reconsider his plot against Kim (Claire King) and let him connect with his Dingle relatives.
As Caleb (William Ash) becomes increasingly concerned with his revenge plan and nothing else, his true motive behind his vendetta has been revealed.
Emmerdale fans will remember Caleb blames Kim for his father's death and wants to destroy the businesswoman for the role she played in Frank's death.
Frank had a heated argument with Kim before suffering a second, fatal heart attack nearly 30 years ago.
However, when Nicky challenged Caleb on his revenge plot, Frank's son admitted financial motivation is driving him.
After hearing his father having a difficult phone call, Nicky asked him: "Is it really worth all this stress?" To which he replied: "Don't you start going soft on me."
"Losing out on having Chas and Cain in your life, don't act like you don't care," Nicky remarked.
Caleb argued his siblings would forgive him once he offered out "their share" of Kim's fortune.
Nicky pointed out that no amount of money would justify the betrayal in Cain's eyes, if Caleb successfully persuades Moira to sell her farm to him.
"The farm's been struggling for years," Caleb hit back. "Long before I turned up, at least this way she'll get a fair price for it."
Nicky suggested his father's revenge plan wasn't worth it but Caleb fumed: "What do you want me to do? Walk away? Have you forgotten what Kim did to your grandad?"
"Who I never even met," Nicky quipped. "Meanwhile, I've got a living, breathing family who live down the road and I can't even get to know them."
Caleb insisted his son would get the chance to know his family but Nicky pointed out the Dingles would "hate him" for his recent behaviour.
"This stuff about Frank is in the past," Nicky added. "What's the point of stirring it up now?"
Caleb replied: "A few million quid," revealing his motive for taking down Kim isn't simply about avenging his father.
