Emmerdale has revealed who 'killed' Alex in a hit and run - and it's not vicar Charles.
Charles confronted Alex during tonight's episode of the ITV soap after finding out he had been plotting all along to steal drugs from the GP surgery. Alex had been getting close to Naomi to worm his way into the Anderson family, and form a close bond with GP Manpreet so he could find out more about the surgery and how it operated.
During tonight's episode, it was revealed who was to blame for what happened to Alex as he was left lifeless on the road, after being knocked over by a car and whilst many thought it would be Charles, it was actually revealed to be someone else.
Everything had pointed to it being Charles, but as the camera panned back, it was revealed to be Billy in the car.
"I had a feeling it was Billy, but he should have called an ambulance. Now he is going to look like he left him to die out of revenge. #Emmerdale," one fan wrote as they gave their verdict, as a second added: "Can’t believe it was billy #emmerdale."
A third shared: "So Billy just happens to go to the chippy as Alex is in the middle of the road. Plus he committed a hit and run right after getting parental rights over the children. Oh so convenient!"
It comes after actor Kevin Mathurin revealed Charles' heartbreak at finding out Alex was using his daughter Naomi.
Speaking about his character's reaction to the revelation about Alex, Charles actor Kevin said: "From the get-go, Charles is devastated. It hurts him that he was right about Alex and that he knew it all along – that Alex wasn't a repentant convict, so to speak!
"Charles feels let down, but more so let down that he invited Alex into his home and welcomed him into his family. He gets a bit physical and he holds Alex down. During the altercation, Charles and Alex struggle. Charles throws Alex onto his car bonnet, damaging it. That evidence will be used against him further on down the line."
He added: "Charles tries to phone the police, but Alex then gets physical with Charles, takes the phone and runs off."
Kevin had previously teased Charles could be responsible for what happened to Alex.
"When it comes to his family – his job and his faith sometimes will take second place to being a father and a partner. So he will do whatever it takes to protect them," he said, "Sometimes with his faith, he can let go and let God take the wheel. But every now and again, he will take his will back and do what's necessary – but he hasn't had to do that for a long time."
