Emmerdale residents learn Jamie Tate is alive as 'dead' character's return 'sealed'

Emmerdale fans believe it's only a matter of time until Jamie Tate returns to the ITV soap, and the latest scenes may confirm this.

On Tuesday night, two characters learned confirmation that it was very likely the character, recently presumed dead, had been spotted alive and well.

Harriet Finch did some digging into his disappearance, and his possible return from the dead at the request of Will Taylor.

Will was acting on Gabby Thomas' own suspicions, as she believed her ex fling was back to steal their baby son Thomas.

Since then though, and despite Will getting Harriet's help to try and track Jamie down, Gabby has feared she could be wrong.

After her apparent evidence of him being alive actually turned out to be a number of misunderstandings, she confessed to Will that she might have been wrong.

Annoyed, Will met up with Harriet in the village to pass the news on, ready to encourage her to drop the search, believing Jamie really was dead.

But Harriet soon dropped a bombshell that could change everything, as she and Will discussed the very likely possibility that Gabby was right, and Jamie is alive.

Of course viewers know this is true, and Jamie was hiding out with his mother-in-law Hazel and daughter Mille - until they were forced to flee when Gabby grew suspicious.

Gabby and Will's daughter Dawn Taylor both headed to Hazel's house and found they'd done a runner, but soon found Jamie's missing watch in a drawer.

In the latest episode, Harriet confirmed there'd been an actual sighting of Jamie, or at least someone who matched his description, with Hazel recently.

The pair concluded from this that Jamie could be very much alive, despite no official confirmation, and fans are now more sure than ever that Jamie will soon return - and his mother Kim Tate will learn the truth.

As Will told Harriet that Gabby was wrong, she told him: "I wouldn't be too sure of that if I was you. I made some enquiries, nothing official obviously.

"It seems someone matching Jamie's description was spotted helping Hazel move out. I think there is more to this than meets the eye. Like I said it's nothing concrete, but it may be time for you and Kim to have that conversation."

It comes months after soap bosses hinted the storyline would be revisited later in the year, but perhaps this was referring to the flashforward week drama.

Producers teased to The Mirror and other press in January: "We know that Jamie Tate is actually still alive and so obviously that information is still to come out. Who's going to find out? And what will they do once they know?

"We know what a tough cookie Kim is, but we also know that Jamie is her Achilles heel. I'm pretty sure we can expect huge fireworks if she ever finds out just how much he betrayed her."

However, bosses haven't confirmed if actor Alexander Lincoln will be making a return to the soap.

Meanwhile, Kim actress Claire King also teased the truth may come out at some point during an interview in January.

Claire told OK! magazine : "I think all the stuff with Jamie might raise its ugly head, as Kim thinks Jamie is dead and hasn’t seen Millie - I know she’ll want to see her granddaughter. She will have a way of trying to find her. But I don’t know."
