Emmerdale's Cathy Hope had a breakdown in tonight's episode when she realised how her life could be impacted by her ongoing illness.
The character, played by 16-year-old actress Gabrielle Dowling, has been spiralling out of control in recent weeks. She has been skipping school and showing erratic behaviour. Tonight, Wendy and Manpreet visited her dad Bob tell him they believe she has premenstrual dysphoric disorder, which could last for half of her life.
Manpreet told Bob: "The thing is Bob there is no cure. She could suffer with this right up to menopause." "Does that mean Cathy could live with this for half her life?," Bob said. "It is a possibility, yes," added Manpreet.

But the three of them didn't realise Cathy had been listened to the whole conversation. After finding out what happened Cathy told Bob she needed "some time to think".
She said: "I think Wendy and Manpreet are right." Bob added: "OK well we will get you to a specialist to make sure. I know things feel bleak right now and I don't know how you feel but it's not that I don't care." Bob broke down to Wendy, and said: "I am so far out of my depth here, I don't know what to do."
The troubled teen broke down and told her dad she is "scared" about what will happen. After the revealing episode, a number of fans rushed to Twitter and shared the same theory about what will happen to Miss Hope. Many said they predict her spiralling behaviour will lead her to being a future "Emmerdale murderer".
@mikepriestley13 said: "Bob is finally understanding Cathy’s problems… these mood swings are going to go crazy. Cathy could end up being the next murderer. #Emmerdale."
"Cathy is going to go on a murder spree...with any luck," @penniless_poet added. @DonGard91348695 added: "Cathy, the next generation Emmerdale serial killer."
@F1Alye said: "Killer Carl, killer Cameron. It seems you should avoid people with names beginning with C. Watch out for Cathy Hope growing up."
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
