Emmerdale fans believed they had rumbled Alex Moore's true intentions for Charles Anderson and others, after scenes on Friday night.
Viewers are convinced the character is just using Charles and is pretending to want to impress him, after learning his real intentions would be confirmed next week.
After deciding to reject the job in Wales and stay in the village this week, he claimed he really wanted to make a go of things with Charles' daughter Naomi.
Charles believed Alex really liked his daughter and even allowed him to live with him while he looked for work, after believing Alex wanted to turn his life around.
Alex has a history with the village, and has been in prison after his criminal and drug dealing ways caught up with him.
He is the ex of Dawn Taylor, and he got her hooked on drugs years ago - while he is also the father of her son Lucas, and another child called Clemmie.
But Alex claims to be a changed man and to have feelings for Naomi, and on Friday night he was desperate to win over his new girlfriend's dad.
Sitting with him and helping him with his chess game, Alex then offered to help the vicar prepare food for the homeless shelter.
Alex claimed it was the least he could do for helping him out, and Charles continued to apologise for trying to force him to take the job in Wales - before claimed the move might trigger a drug relapse.
Knowing Charles felt bad, Alex insisted it was fine and helped him with the cooking - even impressing him with the dish.
Later, Alex and Charles appeared to bond and Charles was keen to play chess with his new lodger and get to know him a bit better.
But as Charles walked away, Alex appeared to pull a face that suggested there was more going on than Charles realised.
Viewers were quick to share their theories on Twitter, predicting Alex was just pretending to want to get to know the family and was using them to get what he wants - with him set to carry out a crime next week.
One viewer said: "Really don't like Alex at all. The way he sucking up to Charles like this. He hasn't changed at all."
Another tweeted: "Alex and his manipulation skills are textbook."
A third fan added: "Alex is playing a great game. How long before he tackles Manpreet for her perscription pads and the contents of the surgery medical cabinets. I’m surprised he hasn’t got a Dawn for the vet’s stock of Ketamine."
It comes as spoilers for next week reveal what Alex has planned next, and it's bad news for Naomi.
Naomi grows concerned next week when Alex is spotted with a mystery woman, and is seen giving her money.
He's also seen at the pub when he's meant to be at a job interview, but Alex manages to win her over with a lie.
It's later in the week that the true story is revealed, and Alex's twisted plan sees him possibly leave a resident in danger.
Alex is actually targeting the village surgery, with he and the mystery woman, Clare, wanting to rob the place.
He's still up to no good it seems as he's on the hunt for the drugs in the surgery, and soon plots his big moment.
Making it clear to Clare that he is using Naomi and isn't really with her, it seems Alex will tamper with the building's electrics as they are vandalised.
Naomi's stepmother is Manpreet Sharma, a doctor at the surgery - so it appears Alex has chosen to target his girlfriend as a means of getting his hands on access to the building.
Doctors Liam and Manpreet have to deal with issues due to the surgery’s closure, as a result of the electrics being vandalised, and Alex seeks his moment knowing the building is empty.
Stealing Manpreet's keys, he lets himself in armed with a crowbar and is ready to locate the drugs.
But Manpreet soon arrives and notices the door is open, unaware Alex is waiting for her in her office with the crowbar raised ready to attack - so will he hurt her to get what he wants?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
