Emmerdale fans have gone wild after Danny Miller, who plays Aaron Dingle in the ITV soap, shared a clip on social media teasing his return to the village for the show's 50th anniversary. The news on the star's comeback was announced earlier today (August 9) as Emmerdale shared further details on what viewers can expect from the upcoming celebrations to mark the milestone.
The ITV soap is set to mark its 50 years of broadcasting throughout the month of October and Aaron Dingle won't be the only popular character making a welcomed return to the village. Amy Walsh, who plays Tracy Metcalfe, will also be coming back for the celebrations alongside Elizabeth Estensen, who plays Diane Sugden - but soap bosses have said their appearances will only be temporary.
On Tuesday afternoon, I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here winner Danny, 31, shared a glimpse of his return to the village in a short clip which saw him sipping a beer in the Woolpack as he said it was "good to be back". He exited the soap back in late 2021 ahead of his stint in the I'm A Celeb castle.
Posting to his 714k Instagram followers and 340K Twitter followers, the caption said: "Guess who’s back.. back AGAIN! News is out I’ve come back to celebrate the 50th year of @emmerdale @EmmerdalePress." Emmerdale replied saying: "Yes! Aaron is back."
The actor was inundated with messages from fans sharing their delight at his return. Many were saying it was good to have him back in Yorkshire soap and that he had been "missed".
Kellie tweeted: "Back where you belong, I can't wait to see what Aaron is up and how he will hopefully make up with Liv." Jo posted: "Glad you back Danny. Aaron has been missed terribly."
Donna Kennedy said: "Glad to have you back." whilst Karen Thornley added: "The best news!! [praying emoji] it’s not just a flying visit. The show needs you back, not just for the 50th! X."
Danni-Jayde tweeted: "Soo glad to see you back Danny!! We’ve missed you." Ryan Glendenning added: "Welcome home @DannyBMiller looking forward to seeing you back in the village for the 50th. We've missed you #Emmerdale."
Emmerdale scriptwriter and resident This Morning soap reporter, Sharon Marshall, joined Tuesday show where she revealed snippets of what was in store for the 50th anniversary. "I've been having to keep my mouth shut for so long about what we are planning. I can tell you a few things," She said: "A big storm I can tell you that. I can tell you it's going to be like a month long celebration.
"Big storm in the village - lots of destruction there and three returns, Diane, Aaron and Tracy - only quick returns but they're there and you'll just have to wait for the rest because it's not until October."
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITV Hub from 7.30pm.
